Increase of positive cases of Covid-19 in Guantánamo continues

The province of Guantanamo registered today the disturbing number of 1 181 new positive cases of Covid-19 and occupies the third position in the national statistics.

Baracoa, on its part, reports today other 18 people infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus, after several days of abrupt changes.

At the end of yesterday, July 24th, 60 467 patients were admitted, 14 864 suspects, 3 456 under surveillance and 42 147 confirmed active.

A total of 56 424 samples were taken for Covid-19 surveillance during the day, resulting in 8 853 positive. The country accumulates 6 208 857 samples carried out and 332 968 positive.

Of the total number of cases (8 853): 8 787 were contacts of confirmed cases; 16 with a source of infection abroad; 50 without a specified source of infection.

Of the 8 853 cases diagnosed, 4 747 were female and 4 106 male.

A 5.0% (441) of the 8 853 positive cases were asymptomatic, accumulating a total of 103 503, which represents 31.1% of those confirmed to date.

The 8 853 cases diagnosed belong to the age groups: under 20 years old (1 632), from 20 to 39 years old (2 609), from 40 to 59 years old (2 983) and over 60 years old (1 629).

Of the 332 968 patients diagnosed with the disease, 42 147 remain hospitalized, of them 41 788 with stable clinical evolution. There are 2 351 deaths (80 in the day), a fatality of 0.70% vs 2.14% in the world and 2.61% in the Americas; two evacuees, 54 returned to their countries, on the day there were 6 147 discharges, 288 414 recovered patients accumulated (86.6%), 359 confirmed patients in intensive care: 153 of them critical and 206 seriously ill.

On the day 80 deceased patients were reported. We deeply regret what happened and convey our condolences to his family and friends.

In the Americas region, there are 76 903 181 confirmed cases (+ 244 047) reported, 39.59% of the total cases in the world, with 7 236 487 active cases and 2 007 968 ​​deaths (+ 3 276) for a fatality of 2.61% (-0.01).
